The tradition

The food and wine in Sorrento is one of the best known and appreciated in the world. Sorrento and the Sorrento Peninsula, in fact, have one of the highest concentrations of typical local products protected by quality trademarks that guarantee excellence.

Thanks to a culinary tradition recognized for its quality and authenticity, the Sorrento Peninsula, in recent times has become an important place to visit for its enogastronomic tourism, offering  travelers a unique and inimitable flavors.

Among the typical products of Sorrento, main ingredients of many dishes of its regional cuisine, you will find extra virgin olive oil from the Sorrento Peninsula, with its goodness guaranteed by the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), the famous Sorrento tomato, with its sweet and mild flavor, and  fine Sorrento walnuts with which Nocino (or Nocillo), walnut liqueur, is made.

A place of honor among the typical products of Sorrento is reserved for its citrus fruit. Due to the nature of its soil and a very favorable climate, Sorrento has been known worldwide for centuries  for its citrus fruit, especially orange groves and lemon groves, which characterize the splendid landscape of the Coast of Sorrento.

In 2000, the Sorrento lemon was also recognized by the European Union as a product with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), a product of excellence in its category.

Thanks to the exclusive use of this fine variety of lemons, Villa Massa is one of the leading producers of one of the most popular enogastronomical local products of the Campania region: the famous Limoncello of Sorrento.

Faithful to the tradition of the ancient families of Sorrento, who loved to make Limoncello at home, which they could offer their guests, Villa Massa produces its own Traditional Limoncello  of Sorrento according to an old family recipe handed down for over a century. What makes this product particularly prized are a total absence of preservatives and coloring, as well as  highly accurate processing techniques.

Not only Limoncello, but all of Villa Massa’s products are made  in full compliance with the quality and enogastronomic traditions of Sorrento, using only raw materials from the area of the Sorrento Peninsula.

The Limoncello babà (Neapolitan sponge cake) and Limoncello cream will make you once again appreciate the quality of the most famous Sorrento citrus fruit, while along with the walnut liqueur, orange liqueur, and mandarin liqueur you can also enjoy other typical specialties from Sorrento, perhaps less well known but equally prized.
